Privacy Policy
Last updated: 19 August 2026
This policy explains what data is processed when you use the Actu-Troll mobile app and the actu-troll.com website, why, and how to exercise your rights. The French version of this page is the reference text.
Data controller
NKAP, publisher of the Actu-Troll app, established in the United States.
Postal address: TO COMPLETE — full address of the organisation.
Contact: [email protected]
Representative in the European Union
Because NKAP is established outside the European Union while offering its service to people located in the EU, Article 27 GDPR requires a representative established in a member state.
Designated representative: TO BE APPOINTED — name and contact details of the EU representative. You may contact this representative in addition to, or instead of, NKAP on any question concerning the processing of your data.
What the app does not do
- No account is required: we never ask for your name, email or a password.
- No third-party analytics tooling is embedded.
- Your saved articles and reading preferences stay on your device and are never sent to our servers.
Data processed
| Data | Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Advertising identifier (IDFA), IP address, approximate location, advertising usage data | Serving ads, personalised or not according to your choice, and related measurement | Your consent |
| IP address and technical request information (CDN logs) | Content delivery, security, abuse prevention | Legitimate interest |
| Saved articles, stories already read, reading preferences, selected country | Running the app | Stored locally on your device — never transmitted |
Advertising and consent
The app shows advertising supplied by Google AdMob. Before any ad is shown you are presented with a GDPR-compliant consent form: you may accept, refuse, or manage your choices in detail. Refusing is as easy as accepting; if you refuse, non-personalised ads may still be shown.
On iOS you are also asked for tracking permission (App Tracking Transparency). If you decline, the advertising identifier is not used.
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time in the app, via Réglages → Confidentialité → Préférences de confidentialité.
Google acts as an independent controller for this data. See Google's privacy policy and the applicable terms.
Third-party content
Actu-Troll produces syntheses of press coverage and cites its sources. The app displays screenshots of the original articles and links to the publishers' sites. When you open a link you leave the app: the site you visit applies its own privacy policy, over which we have no control.
Retention
- Advertising data: retention periods set by Google and described in its policy.
- CDN technical logs: kept briefly, for security and operational purposes.
- Local data (saved articles, read stories, preferences): until you delete them or uninstall the app.
Transfers outside the European Union
As the publisher is established in the United States, data processed through the app may be transferred to and accessed from the United States.
Advertising data may also be transferred outside the European Union by Google, relying on the transfer mechanisms provided for by the GDPR (standard contractual clauses, adequacy decisions, including the EU–US Data Privacy Framework).
Minors
The app is not intended for people under 15, the digital age of consent in France, and does not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a minor has provided us with data, write to us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability, as well as the right to withdraw your consent at any time.
To exercise them, write to the contact address above. You may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL or your local supervisory authority.
